Hey guys,

I recently released my first Windows Phone 8 app, Track Timer, to the store:
Track Timer | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)
And the latest patch (v 1.1.0.0) should be automatically published in the next few hours.

Track Timer is a race track lap timer designed to be simple to use but include some powerful features for recording, reviewing and sharing your race track sessions. Features include:
- Expanding list of official tracks (I'm currently adding US tracks, no app update required)
- Auto track generation, if the circuit you want isn't in the official list you can start driving and Track Timer will figure out the start/finish line and sector splits
- Share your generated circuits and lap times with others
- View leader boards for all the circuits
- Records GPS & Accelerometer data
- Saves sessions to the phone and to SkyDrive for easy access
- Support for Qstarz Bluetooth GPS modules for 10hz GPS recording (may work with other modules that support Bluetooth SPP and the NMEA GPS standard)
- Support for starting and stopping your WiFi enabled GoPro camera with the timing

I have a website at Home Page - Track Timer where you can submit support requests so if you have/find an issue please let me know! I'm also keen to hear any feedback you have, for example on usability or new features.

I'm also starting work on a companion Windows Store app that will provide deeper lap analysis and, hopefully, the ability to generate video overlays from the data.

EDIT: There's now a trial version that's missing a couple of features and supported by advertisements. Try it out for free!

Thanks,
Aston

Hell ya!

I race motorcycles in an amateur club in Washington. Does this work with any race track or does the app need to have the layout defined?

It works with any track. There's official tracks that I define OR you can define a track manually in the app OR you can just start the timing and do a lap and the app should figure out the lap from that (i.e. when you come back past your start point). I'm also adding official US tracks atm, so if there's one you want let me know and I'll add it.

If you decide to try my app out then I'm very keen to get your feedback so I can improve it.

Looks like a great innovation in terms of the time tracking industry. I will surely try out the same. But just wanna clear one doubt, whether the tool is compatible to work with the android or iOS devices?

This app is Windows Phone only.

I've had a few downloads so far, thanks to everyone on WP Central that's had a look. I haven't received any feedback though, either reviews or through the support page at http://tracktimer.azurewebsites.net/support. If anyone here has tried it then I'm very keen to hear what you think, fix any issues you have and find out what features you want expanded or added.

I get a level of error reporting through BugSense and I've published a couple of patches since the release to fix some bugs that have been found. I'll try to stay on top of any others that come through.

Thanks,
Aston

Hey guys,

I've just updated Track Timer with a free trial version. The trial lacks a few features and is supported by advertisements but I've tried to still provide a nice user experience.

Missing features are:
- Single vehicle only
- No Qstarz or GoPro support
- No public lap time sharing (i.e. you can't participate in the track leader boards or share with friends)

As always if you try it out send me some feedback and I'll keep working on improving the experience.

Thanks,
Aston

Hello,

do you plan to enhance your app to use the MICROSOFT band as GPS Module and Display of some Infos (last lap, fastest lap, etc.?)

Hi Rob,

I am currently re-writing Track Timer as a universal app for both Windows 10 desktop & mobile. Once this is done I plan to add some new features including utilising the Microsoft Band.

However I'm not sure of the best way to utilise the Band yet so your input is appreciated.

What benefit would see in using the Band's GPS module vs the GPS already in the phone? And in what scenario do you think having lap info on the Band would be useful (e.g. when would you look at it, while driving/after a session/etc.)?

Thanks.
