Trading the 1520 for an 830?

Do you guys think this is a good idea?

The 1520 is a BEAST. I freaking love it. I love everything from the screen size down to the SD card slot but recently I had a major issue with the phone.. The headphone jack became loose. It's such a major factor for me since I listen to music EVERY TIME I go out and commute. (Obviously, I don't have a car so I ride buses (jeepneys in my country)). I believe the root of the problem is that I put it in my front pocket. But that's the best place to put the phone in terms of practicality.

I'm considering a smaller phone.. I'd get the 930 but the lack of SD card is a major turn off so I'm looking at that Lumia 830. Gorgeous phone..

Do you think it will be worth it? What about resale value? I want to buy a new flagship when Windows 10 comes out if it's the right size..

No, I don't game much but I do play a graphically extensive game.. I play Asphalt 8. Do you think this will be sufficient? Do you guys think it's worth it?

Or should I just go to a tailor and make my pants pockets bigger? (but I'm serious)

Thanks!

I mean if you like the 830, it wouldn't be too bad. The 925 and the 830 run about the same, and my 925 doesn't have any issues with Asphalt 8. The headphone jack is loose on the 1520 though? Have you tried seeing if they'll fix it under warranty? I don't really know what your situation is financially but for me, I'd rather keep the phone I already have :) If it's not an upgrade, there's really no reason to get basically the same phone :D

I agree!

Well I went there two weeks ago and they told me that they'd send it for repair but I have no spare phone right now so I can't hand them over the 1520.

Bigger pockets then? Love the 1520. I'm considering the 830 for its size...

When I sent in my 925 for the exact same issue, took them 1 week to get to them, repair and sent it back to me. So it's not that long :) You must have a crappy spare phone laying around somewhere? lol.

If you're considering it for the form factor though, I'd say go for it! I don't think you would regret. But, consider just getting a cheaper phone like the 530, or the 635. There's been some deals going around lately, so you might be able to snatch one for stupid cheap :) Than when you don't feel like carrying such a big phone you swap the SIM card into the new one :D When the time comes to upgrade, you can just sell both and buy the brand new windows 10 version. Personally, I'd just get bigger pockets like you said though!

Unfortunately my old Nokia E52 wont turn on! I'll try the old BB Curve if that works.

Thanks for your insight!!

You could also get a Bluetooth headset. I got a Bluetooth "headset" that has a 3.5mm headphone jack so I can plug in whatever headphones I like. I got one for around $30 a couple years ago so they may be cheaper now too. This would also be good option to do with until you can figure out what you're going to do/until you find a backup or temp phone. I think you should keep the 1520 and get it repaired.
