Just when I thought I was about to finish installing 8.1 via Dev Preview, the spinning gears + a complete progress bar was the very last thing I saw on screen before the entire phone went permanently off.
Trying to turn it on with a power key renders no results.
The computer no longer recognizes it as a device and cannot install drivers for it.
I'm more than disappointed, not to mention outraged.
Not only that my warranty is now likely void, but I've also probably lost all my apps, music, and pictures that I had on it. :unhappysweat:

Any help/advice is welcome.

plug it into a charger mains not pc, then hard reset whilst its plugged in, 920s are pretty hardy so i dont think its bricked for good
good luck

Same happened on my 920 and a hard reset revived. However I left the phone on charger mains (wall charger) for 1 hour at least before performing a hard reset.

I never update when not plugged in! You never know if you get a battery drain or the updating process takes unexpectedly long!
Good luck unbricking.

Most likely a power issue. You should have plugged it to the wall while updating... Plug it, leave it, then try nokia care.

It's true, it wasn't plugged into the wall.
Luckily, searching through internet, I came across the hard reset key combo (Power + Volume up).
I didn't continue resetting the phone to factory settings though, I didn't wanna lose my data.
I just pressed the above keys only, and when it came back up, the data migration began. I was hella relieved.

Btw, I'm loving the new 8.1 features!

Thanks guys.

Glad you got it going, I've had a few heart in mouth moments flashing mine and it's not a nice feeling,
