Trouble getting Mail to work

I can't add my Windows Live mail files to Mail? I get a msg "Something went wrong" Error code 0x80070490 I want to add my email files and contacts to mail. Can I import them? How?

You don't mention many details, but if you want to import things into Windows mail then it's best to do it on the outlook.com website. I guess you are referring to that as you don't say.
