type cover 2 died today

hi everyone,
my type cover died today after only 2 days of work. the surface pro 2 i have seems just not to recognize whether it's attached or not, nothing happens. i've tried reset, restore and even reinstalling windows, but nothing has worked as well as reinstalling the drivers for keyboard hid in device manager. i wonder if one of you who uses type cover could print screen for me how does it show up in device manager when in working condition. thanks!

It might just be broken. I don't think that sort of thing would occur in software. When it's attached, Surface Type Cover Filter Device appears under Keyboards in device manager. It goes away when you detach it. I also see a HID Keyboard Device as well under Keyboards that is always there whether the type cover is attached or not.
