unable to change IM-text tone on 620 with 8.1

Hi!
ive just updated my 620 to 8.1
and now i want to customize my IM-text tone
ive been working back and forth with the "ringtones+sounds" - "manage app sounds" settings but i cant seem to change my message text tone
i dont want to change my text tone for every individual on my contact list and just want a single tone every time i receive a text message but nothings happening
is this a bug?

So when you go into Settings -> ringtones + sounds -> manage app sounds and you tap Messaging you can't change the default sound?

yup!

well, im able to change the tone settings there, but when i try it, for example, i send a text message on my own phone number, it doesnt work

it's still that default beeping sound

i think the issue is now solved
i tinkered every settings in my phone
i ended up with the glance screen settings
when i clicked it, it asked me to restart my phone and then afterwards it showed a bunch of new options

this sounds weird but i think every setting in the phone is connected to one another even if the settings themselves has nothing to do with the other, kinda odd, but yes
