Sometimes in life, its the little surprises that get you. So my 1020 got dropped and the glass panel broke but the digitizer was intact so the phone was still fully functioning. Unfortunately though a few weeks later it suddenly stopped charging and wouldn't power on(an internal battery issue, totally not my fault). So I sent it to Nokia for repair but they sent it right back due to the broken screen which voided the warranty and they marked it as beyond repair on their systems. So I got the screen fixed through work and then proceeded to return it to Nokia who upon receiving it informed me that they had received my Lumia 1020 64GB. My phone was only 32GB. A few days ago they sent me an update email which I couldnt retrieve and i assumed they were just letting me know that they weren't going to repair it or that I needed to pay.

Today to my surprise I received the phone back. Not only did they fix it but also doubled my memory.

Now aside from the luck with the memory, this was an example of excellent customer service.

Thanks MS/Nokia

Wish I had that kind of luck. What is worrying me is future support of 1020 by MS, in countries like India its a bleak future for sure.

That is a worry for sure considering the 1020 is EOL in Europe now. on the bright side, with everything now under one roof, we can hope that the announcement and release of the 1020 successor will be more rapid and far reaching. Fingers firmly crossed. Cant wait for Build 2015

Is your Lumia 1020 64GB a carrier exclusive device?

The 64GB version was an O2 UK exclusive. I won my 1020 in a raffle and it was an unlocked 32GB version. I noticed that Nokia had to change the system board to fix the issue, it maybe the case they only had 64GB motherboards left.

That was some really good luck, then. :) Really wanted that 64GB version in my country, too. (I have the 32GB one and it fills up so fast.) :/

It does indeed. I had to keep offloading pictures to OneDrive then also remove large games.

IS there any work as to whether the 1020 will be updated to WP10? Or will it be stuck with WP8.1 without Cortana?

I think we should get the Windows 10 update, hoping fingers crossed,I know how you feel,my 1020 too took a fall while back digitizer functioning well so even though screen cracked ,one thing in hoping for is that they bring the 1020 successor in 32gb and 64gb variants unlocked for everyone or just includes SD card slot,if possible too have rounded edges like the 625 ,635,535 etc,its great to hold compared to the 1020 after long use.

The 1020 will get cortana once Update 2 is released. I currently have cortana on my 1020 because I have DevPreview which is currently rocking that update, cortana in alpha for UK, live folders and new battery sense with live tile.
