Updating Lumia 640 to Windows 10

Got a Lumia 640. Want to update it to windows 10. It's currently running on wp8.1 ver 8.10.15148.160(update 2). Can I update it directly to w10m build 10586.490

Is it branded to a carrier?

Will you use Upgrade Advisor or Insider on the Release Ring?

I believe Upgrade Advisor still brings you in at 10586.127 and you have to take an OTA to get to .494.

Release Ring should get you straight to .494 if I'm not mistaken. However, I also believe Redstone 1 is going to drop into Release next week or maybe the last week of July to get some telemetry before Anniversary Update goes live on August 2nd.

Then your decision is this:

• Use Upgrade Advisor and it will enter W10M and any OTAs found will bring you to the current level of the Threshold 2 branch (which is 10586.494 ATM)
• Use Insider on the Release Ring and get 10586.494 right now and staying in Release Ring gets you previews at a very stable level. Probably a sneak preview of Redstone 1 and absolutely early rollout of improvements on whatever branch is current.

I've been riding Release Ring for months on my 640 and recommend it wholeheartedly.
