You can put apps on SD card. Not sure about OTG or if anyone has tried it yet.

You can transfer apps to the sd card and designate all apps be transferred there by default. Useful for a device like the 625.

I've transferred the drive + app there but am not sure how to get the maps over...

OTG worked on my 1020 before updating to 8.1. After updating, OTG no longer works.

There's an app called Lumia Storage Check in the store, provided by Nokia. It's almost the same as the old built in "storage check", but this one has an option to move maps to SD card.

L625 gained huge benefit after 8.1 update. Screen size is key with faster processor.
I am happy to choose L625.
I will check if OTG works..

At least in 8.0, this allowed me to save maps in the SD card. It can't move from phone to SD card, though. Need to redownload the maps. Kind of wonky in that regard.

I can't seem to find this app in the UK store, for my lumia 625. Really odd! Actually I never realised it had been uninstalled after I did the update!

Do you have an American device running wp8.1?

Ok it's just me being slow this morning - I have it installed in my settings list, not as a separate app in the main list.

That said, the option to move maps to the sd card is not there, I can only manage maps buy deleting them!

I also do not believe this is the beta, but the complete final version... I believe I read in the forms that it was only the beta (as per the link) that could off load maps to the card...

Any clarification would be appreciated.

And I agree with the above sentiment that the 625, for me, is absolutely flying. I love how fast and smooth it is going. I'm actually currently using it over the 1520 and 1020, for testing, and it is great. Probably the best lower end phone Nokia makes... If only it had 1gb ram!

Anyway, on point, if anyone else has the ability to move apps in 8.1 I would love to know our if they're experiencing what I am...

And still no otg, unfortunately.

Sorry, I misread the above - yes, I can download maps directly to the sd, not move them... Any way too move them?

The one in the settings list is slightly different to what I linked (the beta), the biggest difference being that the one in the settings list doesn't have the option to save maps in the SD card.
And no, I don't have any idea how to move. I too deleted the map in my phone memory and redownloaded it to SD card.

Shame they got tried of the option, and also a shame that one can't install that beta over the final release (although it makes sense).

I too will download the maps - the whole of Europe this time though, thanks to all that sd goodness

But you can certainly install the beta. It won't replace the final one in settings, but it'll still work.

Not sure in the UK region, though. My phone is set to US, mainly since there is no local region store for me. If you can't find it in the UK store, though, you can switch your phone region to US, install it, and then switch it back to UK.

EDIT: I just downloaded one to SD card to test out, since I hadn't tried this trick on 8.1. Then I turned off both cellular data and WiFi and then tried loading the map in Here Maps. And it worked. So, yeah, I can confirm that this works fine in 8.1 as well.
