I'm having problems with watching video on my surface 2.

I'm testing with a 1080p mkv - this used to play well on my old rt, using mobile.HD - anyone else having similar problems?

Yep, not all MKV work now. Some 720p work, some don't. I downloaded an app called PressPlay Video, which does the job, but it is very sticky.

Never used it before but I read some of the app reviews. Some people say it plays MKV fine while others say it doesn't work at all. I'm not sure what's going on with that app. Maybe you can contact the developers on Twitter, or their website if they have one.

Hmm, tried pressplay, but it does some weird conversion thing at the start?

Its a real shame that there is no killer video app on RT

VLC is on its way apparently, supposed to be the killer app for Surface devices. Most people swear by mobile.HD though, perhaps they need to update their app for the Surface 2 hardware?

Wth is going on with VLC for RT, seriously taking an age.

I'm glad I'm not alone. So far I have not seen any good reliable MKV player for RT.

PressPlay will run a conversion before playing so it's a no go

mobile.HD has let me down with some files, and it doesn't render subtitles on Surface 2. Pressplay is very strange sometimes and often doe a full on conversion of the file which can take a while.

VLC is on it's way (shouldn't be more than a month away), those guys are the gold standard in media players. I'd wait for them.
