I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to as the link takes me to this guy's Youtube home, not the video in question.

However, I updated to WP 8.1 on my Lumia 520 and to my surprise you can set it to run with 3 columns. The option is right there under display settings. I still think it looks to cluttered, on any phone, but it seems usable, even with that phone's display.

I'd post a screenshot, but I don't have the phone with me.

The issue is it shows NFC settings, which is something the 520 doesn't have.
