Was away from my phone... One of the 1st things I noticed setting up my phone was the slot for my fb account. I entered it and it pulled all my friends onto my people hub. Now with mango you can put in your twitter also, and Gmail and LinkedIn if you have it. All of them will be integrated into people hub. Plus any events on the respective calendar get automatically synced to the built in one. Now, if anything ever happens, or when you upgrade to a focus s or titan or whatever, enter these accounts and you've got all your contacts back!
