Visual Voicemail on Unlocked 640XL

Has anyone been able to setup visual voicemail on the 640XL unlocked / unbranded? I bought it from bhphotovideo.com and am using it on ATT. I called ATT customer service and they said everything is working normally but since it is an unbranded phone that may be the reason since they won't send updates to it.

I set up our visual voicemail a few days ago without a problem. We got the International version of the 640XL (RM-1096, unlocked, dual SIM, unbranded). I had to call ATT to update to new IMEI to get LTE and everything is working.

edit: never mind. I see my wife's phone has simple voicemail not visual voicemail and I'm on W10M which didn't give me the option to setup VVM either. Will have to give them another call. It worked on our L830 before we switched to 640XL.

edit1: contacted ATT and they tried a bunch of things with our lines using the IMEI numbers. They couldn't figure it out either. The ATT rep from the "advanced technical department" tried a few more things and then told me that he ran into cases were vvm is not supported on non ATT branded devices.
I will stop by a nearby ATT store in the next few days to see if they can help.
We even reset the voicemail box and tried to run through the setup. I believe it's not working with the International version of the Lumia 640XL.

I also just tried to install MyATT on both phones and it wouldn't let me. Ha, maybe there is a connection. Something missing on the OS level for the app to work. (both on W10M and 8.1 update 2).

I will try YouMail again which offers some type of VVM. Haven't used that for years. Not sure yet if that is free or not.

edit2: Just reactivated my YouMail account and it works great with the app ISeeVM.

edit3: I wonder what will happen if I fool the phone into thinking it's an ATT RM-1065 and change the mobile operator name to ATT-US? Maybe it will get some updates....
