Volkswagen Advanced Telephone Preparation does not charge 950XL

Hi

I have just bought a new Golf R (amazing car btw) but neither of the USB sockets in the armrest or the dash cubby hole charge my phone. Is this because it is a USB C type cable? It is not a deal killer as I usually charge my phone at either end of my journey but it is annoying!

Another annoying issue is that the Media player does not display the music album art but that is probably a Windows 10 issue and might get updated as the OS is updated.

the infotainment USB ports are only 500mA AFAIK, assuming you mean a MK7 R? the MK6 MDI has a little more juice

I have tried it with my old Lumia 920 and it charges on both the USB ports in the dashboard and the armrest but that is the older USB 2.0 cable. As my USB C cable works everywhere else it must be incompatible with the VW system which is a bummer.

check with VW. might be a firmware update for the infotainment or bluetooth module.

i cant remember if they combined them in the MQB chassis or if they are separate devices still
