VPN on Windows Phone 8.1

I can't seem to get it to connect, added the server, username and password, all seems to be correct but it keeps telling me I'm not connected to mobile data or wifi....but I'm connected to my home Wi-Fi.

Bug?

From what I can see the VPN they have included is rather limited.

Are you sure the VPN server to which you are trying to connect is using the same and only protocol WP8.1 supports?

Yeah I see now, it only accepts IKEv2, bit stupid as most are PPTP. Stupid Microsoft.

I hope they add PPTP support in the future cos it's pretty much useless without.

Actually IKEV2/mschapv2 suits best for a mobile vpn solution and it is secure. Pptp isnt worth it anymore and shouldnt be used for critical data anyway. So ms isnt as stupid as u might think. It is just harder to setup a vpn with ikev2 but thats probably why it is part of the enterprise pack.

It still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand when I read " windows mobile 8.1" as it relates to Windows phone.

I never got the VPN to work either, even though my VPN service (PureVPN) supposedly supports IKEv2. Maybe I did something wrong, but it's not like there's a whole lof of settings there in the first place. The implementation seems a little shaky.

IKEv2 on PureVPN is not working yet... hence you cannot connect Windows Phone 8.1 via IKEv2 to PureVPN.
They are aware of it. Interesting, they had a tutorial (a series of detailed screen shots with explanations) showing how to set it up on their forums.... but of course the tutorial didn't work... and they've locked that thread.
They don't have it working yet.
