hey folks, I know some of you have the Alcatel idol 4 windows version with the VR headsets.. so I was wondering if any of you X3 owners tried to use any VR sets from Samsung or alcatel and how was your experiance? I have a chance to pick up a Samsung VR set cheap and I was hoping to be able to use them with my X3

also is there any contents for the X3 that I Can install/download or use with the combination VR set that I wanna get to try out for SH!ts and giggles for examples "movies" do I need to view 3D movies or do any movies work? "games" does Windows store have any VR games availalble for the X3 as they do for the Alcatel models? or anything that I can use on the VR headset? has anyone even tried this on the X3? I would really like to try this out! what are your opinions or advice?

i tried a generic headset and it didn't work, wondering if the x3 even has the gyroscope sensors or whatever helps with vr

It most definitely has, I wonder why it didn't work? I think it might be more of a program thing than hardware...

If no one has the answer then no it don't work... Pretty sure that clears it up with all the views. Much like Lumia 950/XL Can't do VR.

i got this device because I really don't use things like vr, snapface, don't even have facebook, but you can catch me on instantface 😂😂😂

that's probably because no one has tried, doesn't mean it isn't possible... if the alcatel with windows 10 is able to do it, then why wouldn't the X3? I'm figuring perhaps it's because there is no VR hardware for the X3 and no one has tried to use the Samsung Vr set with the X3... looking on the Windows store there is some stuff for VR although very little... but 1 of the reasons I would like to do VR is watch Netflix and movies. now unless the X3 has no hardware to look around in VR (360o views) because of the lack of hardware then that is another reason... which is what I would like to know, and no one around here seems to know or a tleast be able to tell me.

I've never tried a Windows Phone with the Samsung VR headset, but I did attempt a little VR with my 640XL, 1520, and 950XL using those cheap Google cardboard type headsets. The experience was poor at best. I would guess that since the X3 was pitched primarily to business users, VR functionality would not have been a priority, but who knows. As far as apps and games are concerned, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. I looked on YouTube, and there is not a single video that I could find of anybody trying any kind of VR on the X3. If the headset is cheap enough, go ahead and get it and try it out, I guess. Good luck.

If it's not baked in by the oem into the OS by default (like the idol 4s) then good luck trying to get it to work. This goes for anything not built in by default on Windows mobile. Even more so for the TCL/Tmobile VR service and content. Currently it's OEM specific from my perspective. I suspect you could try to install all the same vr software found on the idol 4s onto the x3. But some could be oem dependent services running with certain capabilities specific to how the oem built it. So even if you get the vr gallery and such installed it might not operate right. Unless you enable/unlock those capabilities the same on the x3. Not saying it is not possible, just stating what you might face trying. The elite x3 may be capable but the system is not out of the box setup for vr. You would need to really work to get it to succeed and that is if you know what your doing.

I fear you might be right... I went into a Samsung store today to inquire about this and the girl told me it won't work because the Samsung vr gear only works with Samsung phones as it needs to download and install the s/w proprietary to the Samsung devices... Oh well.
