So, I just noticed that after upgrading my Nokia Lumia 928 to the preview version of GDR3, the "internet sharing bug" is no longer a problem. Before, you'd have to turn off the wifi before turning on internet sharing. Now, you simply turn on internet sharing and under the wifi section it will say "internet sharing enabled". Thought this was a cool fix that most would appreciate.

Interesting. If you do this, will VZW charge you the Internet Sharing fee? I'm still on the unlimited plan.

Unlimited Plan doesnt have a hotspot feature, it costs extra. It is included in their Mobile Share Plans.

On GDR2 at the end of August when toggling Internet Sharing on it would say add to your plan. I was able to add it from the My Verizon app and have it working within minutes. Used a couple gigs in the 2 days I had it on. :P

I use Internet Sharing everyday, I think this may have cleared up as well but i'll report back if it happens again. Hard to say its fixed after one day :)

Hey, any chance they will ever just let us keep it on all the time?

Psiu, so are you saying it is a charge service even if you have the unlimited data plan?

Yeah. I don't know what all the FCC spectrum auction said specifically, but Verizon has interpreted it to mean unlimited data users have to pay for tethered data, and capped data users don't. The only available plan on the app is the unlimited tethering, but supposedly there is a $20/2 GB option as well.

On Android you can just download a tether app and use it -- would be hard for them to notice low tether usage. (edit: use it for freeeee) On one of the Shared Data plans tethering is included automatically. I have no clue about iOS (I assume the built in tethering would work like ours, not sure if they have apps available).

One more thing, if you have a corp discount it will apply to the tether price. So mine was ~$25/month -- less than a buck a day -- and you can just turn it on a for few days if needed.

Thanks for the feedback. 1). How did you get the GDR3 update? Does this void your phone warranty and insurance?

2) I wasn't even aware there was a hot spot - wifi issue, probably because I've never tried to connect to my hot spot while phone was on wifi because I just connected everything to wifi. Which brings to mind why would you hot spot on wifi if you can just wifi everthing?

3) After you upgrade, will you be able to download and install the fully-released version once Verizon decides to push it out (knowing Verizon and how slow they are, about 8 months from now)?
