Well I've shed my purple name and it seems I now have crossed the threshold from Ambassador & Moderator to Moderator with a yellow name. How shiny! There is so much to take in and I've read through it all it's just learning how to apply it. I'm guessing you all have the rules on-hand to refer to immediately... I'm going to have to bookmark them! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, it's great to have the opportunity to be part of the team!

I'll use this thread to ask any stupid questions I have.
1. Moderated posts - these come up in my notification centre ... I'm guessing they're posts from people with under 10 posts that need to be approved before they'll display. Not quite sure what to do with them?
2. The mod control panel you can see the images waiting to be approved, track users and all sorts... how and when is this all useful etc? Any examples?
3. I thought we could moderate posts in the blogs on the front page - I read that the team weren't too happy we could but I don't have this ability. Not sure if it's working as intended here.
4. When it comes to approving posts or picture comments etc, I'm guessing we just decide if it's obviously appropriate or not and approve/delete/disapprove/whatever ... if it's borderline leave it for someone else or bring it to everyone's attention?
That's all I can think of at the moment - I'll be adding more later I'm sure.

Yes, that is mainly because we were bombarded with escort/call girl spam.
It is useful to look up IP addresses when banned users create new accounts and return. That's the main reason I use it.
The only thing we're allowed to touch on the blog comments is spam. The writers are responsible for handling anything else.
That sounds good. You'll get more of an idea once you have more experience.

Can someone talk me through the process of spam removal - I read that we report the spammer to the different sites before doing one touch clean and remove?
EDIT: There was a movie link spammer this morning and after spending over an hour trying to find out how to properly ban a spammer, I found the 2 threads literally under my nose in WPC. moteydogey is the culprit here. I didn't read the thread that said about taking note of the IP and reporting it on other sites through the MN Forums until after he was banned. Here's what I did...
I infracted the guy for Spamming (Not Moderated), which I guess means I didn't have the approve the post before hand? What exactly is the definition between moderated and not moderated here?
It says something about passport banning the infractor but I can't find out how to do this?
After I infracted him I one touch banned and cleaned his posts at which point I found the forum had generated the usual threads. I checked through the ModCP to see if I could find his IP or alert any other forums but I couldn't see anything like that there.
Anyone got any hints or tips to do this better?

It looks like you are doing ok and figuring things out. Moderated means it's hidden and needs a moderatosr approval before it will display to the public on the forum. With Spammers:
1. You give an infraction for spamming. (You figured that out)
2. You Passport ban them. Click on their avatar for their profile.and select PP from the list.
3. Insta-ban them from their avatar profile window. (You figured that out)
4. If you see global posts and/or other forum icons on their avatar profile window, we post that information here: http://forums.mobilenations.com/member-tracking/ at Mobile Nations. If they are already passport banned or their are no global post, DO NOT report it to Mobile Nations.
We also have Network Moderators that scan all the forums for spam. Lots of times they get to the spammers before we do.

If there's any doubt. Post it here and ask for opinions. You might get more than you bargained for! But it can get discussed and an answer provided. If all else fails, send a message to Dave.
On this one, I also find the spam post on that site and report it if it hasn't been cleaned up there yet. They see that quicker than the member tracking forum. Just a note saying PP banned, cleanup needed. Or something like that.

So it seems as part of my 'welcoming' period not everything had been turned on or connected immediately. I've been given the go ahead to use the PP admin now, which is why I couldn't see it before now.
If there's situations that come up I have no clue what to do I'll either post it in here or I'll comment in the reported post itself.
Also, I've got to ask - why is everyone spamming likes and favourites I mean I think I get why but I had to ask.
