What about Windows Media Player?

I'm finally getting rid of iTunes and have been looking into using Groove Music or Windows Media Player for my music management. I decided on Windows Media player just because it has more options and flexibility, and more options with playlists. And I can still download music to my phone, which Groove Music finds. Are there other people still using Windows Media Player for music management?

I do use WMP -and Windows Explorer- to supplement (only) Zune on my Win 7 desktop to manage all my owned digital music. I especially like the columns and sorting functionalities of WMP. I use Groove only on my Win 10 Surface Pro 2. If not for my Microsoft music subscription and my Lumia 950, both of which only Groove can manage, Zune would still be my favorite music software, and my SP2 would still be running Zune on Win 8.1 with the Media Pro package(?). Alas, the costs of progress.

I never used iTunes for anything, so I can't compare nor contrast any functionality with that.

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a dedicated page in Window Central for Windows Media Player. It takes some figuring out, it would be nice to have a place to go to ask questions about it. So far, so good for me, still in the re-organizing, cleaning up phase. WMP has been busy getting music info automatically, iTunes was set to do this, but never did.

I wish they still had mix radio. That was the best music player app on my phone and pc when it was around. I'm stuck using podcast and downloading weekly mixes of my fav DJs.

I still use WMP as my primary music management and player (when i'm on my Windows 10 PC). I just can't organize, compare and sort music with Groove. My big problem is that Zune-pass downloads used to share music with WMP so I could play ALL my music in WMP. Groove-pass downloads won't play in WMP, so if I want to play a mix of music (some CD rips, some iTunes purchased, some downloaded, some Groove-pass downloaded) I am lost. If Groove gave me the same options as WMP, i'd switch in a heartbeat. Microsoft is really missing the mark here. There is no reason that technology should be less useful than it was 5-10 years ago.
