What are network credentials and are they stored someplace on the system using Winows 10

I have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. My existing network "went away", and now I am unable to exchange the files on any of the three computers. I do not know which system is being referred to when the credentials are asked for, only that the credentials are required for access.
