What does it mean to succeed?

I started reading threads about Windows Phone 8 succeeding, and the question came to mind. If we're going to discuss what Windows Phone 8 needs to succeed or why it will succeed, we have to decide what it is that it means to succeed.

I figured this would be a good discussion, as it is likely that we all have different opinions on it.

At least many Nokia execs have set their targets to double digit market share on smarpthones to be the first goal. I would call that +10% market share a success, combined with a seriously taken app situation that wont anymore be the natural negative added to every reviews end. Imo we are closer at getting that app situation to that point, than a 10% market share just now. We will need to see faster development from MS for that double digit market share to happen.

Naturally this will be a moving target, so after that we will likely be demanding for WP to take over iPhone. That is if the new cheaper iPhone wont get them so far a head, like with Android so it wont even rise as subject.
