What does my computer need in order to upgrade from windows XP to a windows 7? How many bytes, etc.

I want to upgrade to a windows 7 to a windows XP.

These are the minimum requirements for Windows 7:
• 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor*
• 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
• 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
• DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If I remember correctly Windows won't allow an upgrade from XP to Windows 7 directly.
You would have to either go to Vista then Win7 or do a fresh overwrite with a full Windows 7 disc.
After that you would need to use Microsoft "Easy transfer" to migrate all your files to your new Win7 installation.
