What happened to Skype?

Why did Microsoft totally eviscerate a great app like Skype? What is the method to this madness? Do they want any of their products to succeed?

Why did Microsoft totally eviscerate a great app like Skype? What is the method to this madness? Do they want any of their products to succeed?

, Skype for Business is being replaced by Teams. Normal Skype seems to stay alive but does not have much priority I guess. I personally really disliked the Business version but the normal one seems fine to me and is free, did they change something recently about their app that you dislike?
