That's an interesting point.
An interesting parallel is Handspring/Palm's Treo line, which went up to 800w (or 850w if you want to count the "Pro")
I imagine the mobile landscape to have shifted sizably, at least in the bottom few percentage points and maybe Lumia will be no more in favor of who knows.
I don't believe Windows Phone is going to die. Although Lumia imo has 2-4 more years left before MS drops it.. After that Surface Phone will be Microsoft's only first party mobile device.
