What is "cloud messaging" in Windows 10 mobile?

I recently installed the Windows 10 mobile preview on an HTC One M8 and found a new settings in the messaging app: "cloud messaging." I can't seem to find a description of what this does. My guess (which I hope is correct, because I've been waiting for this feature) is that it syncs your texts to the cloud and lets you receive and send texts on your PC.

Any help?

Sorry I dont have an answer, but I also have a HTC one m8 windows phone, and would very much like to upgrade, how did you do it?

To download windows 10 on m8, you'll have to sign up for the windows insider app in the store.
