What is the maximum SD card capacity a surface pro 3 i3 can handle?

I'm having a surface pro i model with 64GB. I'm currently using a 64GB SDXC card and hoping to expand the SD card. Please let me know if I can go for a 256GB SDXC card without any problem?

I don't think there is any microSD card it cannot handle yet. (barring defective cards)

The highest density card I've been able to find is 128GB. I believe the SDXC has spec'd densities up to 2TB, but I've never seen a spec from Microsoft on the microSD limit for the Surface Pro3. I'm guessing that without cards to verify, they can't claim functionality, but it would certainly make sense that they would over design the capabilities of the card reader circuit.
