I have the 64 gb Surface Pro and yesterday I was experiencing some slow down and decided to do a restart. I had over 21 gb at the time of the restart and after the restart was left with only slightly over 16 gb. What happened?????. Has anyone else had this happen? I had been at that 21+ gb for over 2 weeks. I only installed 3 new apps yesterday so I don't know how I lost 6 gb of storage. Yes I have already moved my recovery storage to a USB drive and deleted that on the first day of purchase for the extra storage. I would appreciate any help or if anyone else has had the same issue.

Thanks.

Sounds like your hibernation or pagefile file. they're on the root of c and are hidden system files, and needed. Unless you turn off hibernation.

Also shadow copies? I believe its called file history, not sure if its on by default.

These all use around 6gb

Thanks again, changing the pagefile.sys and disabling Hib. got my lost gb back and then some. At 23.3 gb free now. Thanks again.
