Hi guys.
I hope not to be OT or against forum rules.
I'm a Windows Phone developer in my company but I see less and less interest in company.
Even the job market is not very encouraging from this point of view, Windows Developer offerings (phone/mobile/universal) are few to those for other mobile platforms and often require someone who knows one of the other platforms in addition to Windows. I honestly can't blame companies, given the current market share, the problem is that every month you have to pay expenses, rent and bills and feel the need to expand my skills to be competitive in the labour market and have some security for the future. Wanting to stay on C#, I have seen that WPF and ASP.netare in high demand. Remaining on the mobile there would be XAMARIN, but many companies tends to prefer native development (iOs/Android). Always to leverage C # I had thought of Unity but also here the offers are few.

Given the current situation what you would learn other than UWP development?

Personally I would try to learn as much as possible, why?

It enables you to be adaptable and be able to leverage your knowledge and skills in multitude of environments.

Furthermore it also expands your horizons a lot more.

The moment you stop learning that is the moment you stop growing as a person.

I am currently learning Xamarin. WPF is very easy to learn if you're coming from UWP/WinRT/Silverlight. ASP.NET is a different beast, but worth learning. Xamarin Forms is very similar to UWP/WinRT/Silverlight programming and works well across all platforms but is a little buggy (however there's ways to work around Xamarin Form's bugs.) I've heard Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android aren't buggy but then you have to learn Android and iOS's UI systems.
