What to replace use of pen and paper for practical subjects through technology?

W

WPCentral Question

With reference to climate change and our progression to reducing deforestation in the near future, forests are base components for the production of paper. Paper that is used in businesses, and by students in school. Students that do theoretical studies have access to channels and laptops to assist them in mitigating their use of paper. But, what about students that do more practical studies such as Math and Physics and other subjects that require physical application to practice craft? Yes we can use our touch devices to conduct given tasks but how neatly and how efficiently can we do so? What are the ideas generating to solve this problem?

Epson has developed a print/copy/recycle/new paper system. It breaks down printed office paper into pulp and turns it into new sheets. It's very large compared to a large office copy machine and likely very expensive. They claim it to be more efficient than the shred, transport and recycle off-site methods currently in practice. I've yet to see a white paper, technical article not physical paper, that shows the actual environmental impact comparison. Organizations with money and green initiatives will flock to the technology, which hopefully can fund future size reduction and cost savings.
