What windows phones do you think I could get cheap second hand?

I'm in desperate need of a phone right now, and it seems I can get windows 7 phones very reasonable second hand on craigslist. I've found someone selling an LG Quantum for $30 and I don't see a much better deal than that, but then again I don't know names of cheaper windows phones so I don't know what to look for. If anyone could give me some names of phones you think I could get for around $50 second hand, let me know.

Sounds like you are on AT&T, so a generation 1 WP7 is by far your best bet. The Quantum was well loved, and the hardware qwerty is a bonus.

If you are looking for WP7's on AT&T, I do suggest the Samsung Focus, regarded in a lot of circles as the best of the first gen of WP7. Also, the HTC HD7s was well recieved.

However, I do suggest you look for the Samsung Focus Flash or Focus S. Used, they both can be had for fairly cheap and they were spectacular WP7 2nd gen devices, with better processors. The Focus Flash may be easy to find in the 50$ range.

The Samsung Focus was my first Windows phone. It is one of the best phones I've used....still use it to this day as my entertainment device. I have also used the Focus S...another very nice Windows phone. The Focus Flash felt really cheap to me when I used it. You can also get a really nice Lumia 900 on eBay for around 100.00 now.
