What's Voice mail? And how to set it up?

Voicemail is a service (may be free or paid) provided by your carrier/operator where people calling you can leave their voice messages for you to listen later in case you are busy and cannot attend their calls.

Afaik, there's no unique voicemail number for everyone. It's same for all users/subscribers of any given operator. You need to ask your operator about the service and how to activate it. Or you can find step-by-step guides on the internet about the same. Search for it using terms such as how to activate <your operator name> voicemail

How it works:-

Case 1:- If someone calls you and you ignore the call, the caller is automatically redirected to your voicemail number where an automated voice assistant will instruct the callers how to leave their voice message. Typically, the caller is asked to record his/her message after a "beep".

Case 2:- You can redirect all your incoming calls to your voicemail by default. So, you never receive any calls as all your calls are automatically redirected to your voicemail number before they reach you.

To access and listen to your voicemail messages, you need to dial a fixed number (different for different operators). This number is the same number your incoming calls are redirected to. The automated voice assistant will inform you about the unread voice messages and let you listen to them.

Some operators also support "visual voicemail". Here, you can access your voicemail messages without dialling your voicemail number. Instead, all your voice messages are displayed as audio files in the Phone app. You can even rewind/forward these messages which you cannot do in case of usual voicemail.

Hope this helps :)
