these widely used apps are considerably slow. sad to c still whatsapp is struggling to get the confidence of WP users as compared to androide and IOS.
These both the apps takes long time to launch and to refresh themselves in real-time. Hoping to see improvements at least at this time where WP has moved up to 8.1

I can't believe how slow Viber is on resume, it's a mess. It has to be updated soon or I will have to switch away from it, it's useless as it is for an ongoing conversation.

I think WhatsApp was fast enough when i used it last in December. Though viber... Ahem.. Its still as slow, and the worst part is the loading screen on opening a conversation, and the 5 seconds it takes after opening the app to load contacts and conversations.
Though for me, viber resumes reasonably fast. Much faster is compared to launching it. Takes about 6-7 seconds to have me typing my reply.

What devices are you all using? And are you on wp8.1?

My lumia 1520 and 1020 are fast as one could want, including resuming.

The lumia 625 - that is slower, though we're talking maybe two or three seconds.

I think it could the a low memory thing... Or not!?

Which app are you referring to???

I have a Lumia 925 and launching/resuming Viber is snail slow taking about 5~6 seconds each.

I have a 1020 and it's the same for me. 6 secs or so from opening to usability. LINE is instant so it can be done.

actually today i noticed, viber took 10-12 seconds from tap on notification to typing. And yes, hike is also instant. Why are these bigwigs so slow ?

Anyone using Textplus on 8.1? I don't get any notifications for messages received.

there are only 3 reasons mostly for no notifications:
1) check whether the background task is on or not (if there's an option to disable it, there isn't sometimes for some apps). Should be in data sense/battery sense now i think ?
2) check data sense and ensure that your mobile data usage isn't near the limit. Some people try to be over smart and fix a 1mb limit ao that data is not wasted, but it stops notifications on mobile data. I used to do that too.
3) ensure your phone isn't in battery saver.
