Whatsapp not working properly after update to 8.1

[WPCentral Question]

I updated my Lumia 520 to 8.1 last week, and since then I don't get notifications when I get a whatsapp message unless I'm connected to Wi-Fi. When I go into the app, the new messages are there, but I don't receive any sound or a number next to the icon. Help?

Try turning off your data sense.
I guess you'r background data is restricted somehow.
