When ask Cortana response is problem with Microsoft sign in

Installed Windows 10 On the bottom line is a box Circle followed by I'm Cortana. Ask me anything. When we click on this it brings up a sign in box that says "Before we get started I'll need you to sign in with a Microsoft account. When we click on sign in it brings up my Gmail email as a microsoft account. When we click on this it indicates that this is not correct.
