I've got my desktop (running pro) on full screen so it didn't show. But just notices my start menu is acrylic on my tablet (running home).

When did this happen?

Are you running on insider?

No. Neither of my machines are on insider. And interestingly when I turn my pro machine into regular start menu rather than full screen, it doesn't have it - just my tablet (which is home).

I was kind of surprised to see it, as usually they save new features for major updates...

Okay, did the cumulative update on my pro machine (desktop), and now its action centre and desktop are also transparent.

So clearly its in the latest update. Which is quite a surprise :D

Transparency has been with Windows 10 at least since initial version release on July 2015 was released.
It's available to both Home and Pro edition.

It can be turned On or Off by........

Settings > Personalisation > Colors > Transparency effects > On or Off

I've always had transparency on, and all its ever done is make the taskbar transparent (while everything else was definitely opaque)

I mean maybe your right and its always been there, but if that's the case, its never worked for me, until this last update.....which I suppose is a good thing!

Looking at the concepts of FDS start, you are probably right, it looks more frosted.

But I wonder why my transparency has literally never worked :P

To the person who asked, this is what acrylic is supposed to look like in FCU

Settings > Personalisation > Colors > Sow ascent color..... > check the box " Start, taskbar and action center"

Transparency..... Start, taskbar, action center.jpg

Settings > Personalisation > Colors > Sow ascent color..... > check the box " Start, taskbar and action center"

Nah that's not it. If I change that it now stays transparent but not in the blue colour, just black. Plus I've always had both those ticked. Mysteries of windows XD
