When I turn my Nokia Lumia 520 on it gets to the lock screen then has a black screen. How can I fix this?

When i turn my nokia lumia 520 on it gets to the lock screen then has a black screen.

When i turn on my Nokia Lumia 520 it says "nokia" as it usually does and then shows the blue windows sign like usual, gets to the lock and then goes black and doesn't respond to anything. i pulled the battery and turned the phone on again and the same problem happens. when i put my charger in the "slide to power off" shows for a second then blacks out again but doesn't respond.

Have you tried leaving your phone plugged into your charger for at least 30 minutes?

It's possible that the battery has been drained below the minimum startup charge level. If this is the case, allowing the phone to charge for some time should resolve the issue.
