I've been waiting for the official release so I can get one with Glance already working (i.e. not a "prototype" with Debian Red instead of Denim firmware). WPCentral ran an article two weeks ago saying the 830 would launch in Brazil last week, but there's been no mention since then.

Once they officially launch it in Latin America or if TMO announces it for USA. There might be a good chance if Rogers picks it up in Canada then the RM-985 would also become official. I have been watching the RM-985 on eBay and haven't bought the phone due to this reason:-)

I'm sure it'll be soon. I was going to wait, but after running speed tests in my area pitting T-Mobile's LTE vs their HSDPA networks, I noticed 0 difference. In fact, I was getting higher HSDPA download speeds than LTE, though I had faster LTE upload speeds. So I pulled the trigger and went with the RM-984 variant. Haven't looked back since. Love the phone and will soon sell my 1520 :)

For the record, I regularly stream video and use HERE Drive (I have T-Mobile's unlimited plan) and have noticed 0 difference vs. doing so on LTE.

I'm afraid that won't be the case on AT&T in the NYC metro area. I'm so eager that I've started searching the sites of Vivo, TIM, Claro and Oi- and I only speak English!

Where are you located? I am in the LA Metro area.

Might not be a bad idea to get the RM-984 version.

Yeah, definitely did my homework before coming to that decision. I also considered the fact that I could probably get even better battery life than the phone already has by switching my max connection speed to "3G," since I'd be on H and H+ anyway. 0 regrets so far, enjoying Denim, Glance, unlimited data on T-Mobile, and everything else the full production of this phone has to offer. And that orange is definitely turning heads. Although one of the compliments came from someone who asked, "is that the new iPhone?" -__-. Had to do a little Nokia/WP schooling :)

Where did you get the RM-984 from and how much did you pay?

I just read recently that using LTE would draw less power than H or H+. I wish I could find the link. The article mentioned that we're approaching a point where LTE power consumption will nearly equal power consumption using WiFi. No link, no truth though :(

I do know that I spent last week without LTE on my 920 because of a problem with the SIM card, and I definitely felt it. Or rather, I noticed that browsing and downloading seemed rather slow for a few days before I realized that I was never connecting to LTE. Evidently the SIM didn't like being put in an iPhone for a few days then being switched back. Had to go to AT&T and get a new SIM card.

LTE may possible not draw more power than 3G (H or h+), however the problem is as you move around (drive) and LTE signal strength varies and if you even get out of an area with LTE (which is common where I live), the radio then uses a lot more power continuing searching for an LTE signal.

Hmm, sounds like a general problem with the sim, including LTE, HSDPA, etc. I didn't run any comparative speed tests on AT&T so I can't say for certain, but on T-Mobile in my area the two were indiscernible. Having LTE would be nothing more than a psychological benefit for my use case. The only difference so far is slightly better battery life without LTE.

Not sure if it helps, but my Telus Lumia 830 is RM-985_1011. I have LTE and just used the Network Speed Test - D/L 50.68Mbps / U/L 0.01Mbps (im thinking there was an error on the U/L), Max jitter - 16ms, Network delay - 242ms, Packet loss - 0.333%. Im not sure what those additional tests mean, but thats what the test tells me.

My battery life has been excellent as well, my phone is easily lasting an entire day. I do not use glance screen though, its a nice feature to have, but I don't care to use it.

Only issue I encountered was with the 830 was that the vibration didnt work, I exchanged the first one I got for a new one and all is good.
