It would help if you shared what phone you are coming from and what carrier you are on.

I think a safe, inexpensive bet if you can find one would be the 640 or the 640 XL if you don't mind bigger phones. The 640 is under $50, the XL of it is probably 150? I'm not sure on the pricing of it at the moment.
At the same time, if you want to go all out, you can check out Swappa and Ebay, which have the new flagships for like $300+

As libra89 already said, if you just want to give it a try then I would strongly recommend you 640/640 XL or if you don't mind trying the low budget phone then the Lumia 550. If you have enough money and plan to stay, then 950/950 XL. If you don't mind using second hand phones, many people will recommend second hand Lumia 930.
