Why am I unable to install updates?

Unable to install updates

I have been using Nokia Lumia 520 for the past 2 years (almost). Whenever I try to install critical updates, it gets stuck in the gear for hours. After a few hours, a blue screen appears with a error message. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Are you on windows phone 8.1? Or a different OS

What you can do if you have a pc or can get one is
Download lumia software recovery tool
Install it on the pc
Connect your phone
Reset your phone using that

Please note that this will erase all your data and apps on the phone. This is basically a hard reset.

You can also hard reset from the phone

After that you can check for updates and that should work
