Why are my Lumia 640 XL photos not good in a low light?

is it my phone? or MS algorithm? last night a HTC and Samsung midrange phones with 8MP produced better shots over my 13MP Zeiss sensor!

Is definitely the app , sensor wise - this is a cappable one . Try Lumia Camera in manual mode (if you are on wp8.1) adjusting ISO and exposure .

Most likely the app. App doesn't know how to properly use the camera. It's like giving a $5000 DSLR for an amateur photographer who does not know how to use it's full capabilities....like me. :/
