Why can't Cortana show files that I hid?

Why can Cortana show files that I hid?

I edited some pictures in paint then I decided to hide them. When I searched Paint in the search bar, the list of the items that i edited are shown there. I tied deleting Paint's recent file history using the Registry Editor then rebooting but nothing happened. I successfully deleted the recent file history but Cortana still found and showed it. Can you please tell me how to fix this? T.I.A.

are hidden files set to show by default? Though I'm not sure how to restrict the search capabilities for Cortana

open any folder: go to view tab, on the right side are checkboxes for different view options. Is show hidden items ticked?
