Why can't I open media content in my message center?

When I go to my messages and see a new message from someone the message says get media content now (30KB) and I cannot open the message.

if you are on WP10 TP this might be a bug. do a soft reset and if you still face the issue then try a hard reset or wait for the next build to fix this issue good day

make sure you have a working cellular data connection and that your access point/APN settings are properly set up.
