why cant i receive certain links in my texts?

I have a windows 10 phone, I have recently acquired a tracker that is supposed to send me alerts via SMS with a link to google maps. Unfortunately its not sending me the coordinates as a link. I have received links in texts before from other places and companies etc, also its sending the link to my partners phone which is really old. Is there any thing I can do in my settings somewhere??? Please help me. I am going insane.... Thank you in advance.
