Why can't I upload photo's from any Nikon camera without using a sd card reader?

can not upload photo's from any nikon camera without using a sd card reader

microsoft seem to have left out all drivers for nikon ,one of the most popular camera companies on the planet , i hope they fix this soon as i cant upload any photo's i have taken to my labtop
