Why do apps always cost more in Europe

Why do apps always cost more in Europe?
I live in Germany and Apps are sold in America for say $ 1.99 but the same App in Germany will cost 1.99 ?

That is because the VAT tax is higher in the European region than in other counties. The price that you see in store is inclusive of the taxes and what the devs get paid is less than the amount you see. Tax is deducted from that amount. In fact, expect prices to increase further because as per the latest email I have received from MS, taxes in Europe are set to rise from 1st Jan. So blame your government...haha

MS has to collect tax on behalf of the EU. Things will get more expensive for some as the tax charged much be the tax rate levied in the country is which the sale is made.

I agree with you in part but I still feel that we in Europe pay more for the apps don't they pay any tax in America 1 $ is about 0.82 €

Just bought a 1.99€ app that cost $1.99 in America my Vat was .32€ still feel we are getting ripped off.

Change the phone region to USA and then you can buy apps through the USA app store.

I don't think that will work I am on prepaid and I pay for my apps by having the fee deducted directly from my phone.
I will just have to console my self with the fact that I most likely pay a lot less to use my phone then in north America.
Because of the population density. I currently pay 6.99€ for 100 mg flat 50 SMS and 50 minutes with Congstar Then every mim and text after 50 is .09€
