Why do I have a sad smiley on the start screen?

my Lumia 520 remains in a sad smiley position after restarting the phone.. pls help..

Try this method of factory or hard reset
with it powered off, hold volume down, then plug in your device. An exclamation mark will appear. Then, press this combination: volume up, volume down, power button, volume down.

Or as an alternative try this


1.Press and hold the Volume down Volume down button and Power Power button buttons at the same time until you feel a vibration (about 10–15 seconds).


2.When you feel the vibration, immediately press and hold the Volume down Volume down button button until you see a large exclamation mark.


3.Once the exclamation mark appears, press the following four buttons in this order: Volume up Volume up button, Volume down Volume down button, Power Power button, Volume down Volume down button. Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the reset to finish.)
