Why does my sound not work after Windows 10 upgrade?

I have a Toshiba computer and updated to Windows 10, but now I cannot get ANY sound on my computer to work? I tried some suggestions on the forums but even when I did the "test" sounds after switching the speaker properties, it just says "failed". How can I get my sound back?

Quite likely you need new drivers. And an uninstall of the old drivers first.


Check the OEM Support site for your device and/or the hardware component. Download new drivers if they can be found... Open Device Manager and expand the component category.

This happened to me. My fix was disable sound card device drivers wait a moment then enable sound card device drivers. It worked like a champ after resetting sound card drivers.
