Why has my Lumina 520 stopped playing YouTube videos?

A few days ago my Lumina 520 stopped playing YouTube videos.

I click on the video and nothing happens. It won't play Facebook videos either.

I assume you are referring to the browser yes? Have you tried playing videos from other apps such Video or myTube?
