Why is SD card not showing as storage on PC

My SD card has a load of pics and music on it from when I had my Galaxy S2, When I put it in my lumia it shows all the content fine no issues, when I connect it to the PC it shows Windows Phone in explorer, when I go into it it only shows the contents of the phone which is nothing as all my content is on my SD card. If I want to use media player to add more music its gonna end up on the phone not the SD card, how do I add to the SD card?

W7 64 bit. I have the desktop app installed but it crashes immediately upon opening so I thought I would try and sync with media player. My SD card is a Samsung 16gb class 2

What happens if you insert the card directly into the card reader on your PC?

If I put it in the card reader it shows all the contents of the card, I could add files that way but thats a major pain in the behind having to pull it out of the phone all the time as its not easy put into the phone.

I am too having the same issue. When I connect Windows phone with PC its shows windows phone but when I open that it reflects "0" items. But when I insert the same card into Card reader, it works normal.
Windowsphone: Lumia 520
Operating System: Windows 8

Please help.
