why is the sound on my nokia 520 so low now I cannot her any thing hardley

When I had this phone from the start I had the sound going up to 30 and was warned to be carefull on this now my phone is showing something like 10 notification what is this

A safety update to prevent you from getting hearing problems. Furthermore to prevent you from taking them to court if you become deaf because you always used the phone on high volume and did "not know" that that would harm your hearing.

I believe u recently updated to WP 8.1?
If so the 10 is the ringer+plus notifications volume setting.
They separated it from apps+games settings which can be accessed by pressing the downward arrow towards the right of volume settings.
